Sakura's Favourite Brooch

This cutie is an as-close-as-possible reproduction of a brooch that appears in CLAMP’s world-wide-known manga ‘Card Captor Sakura’.

Naoko Takeuchi must be one of my favourite designers, but the CLAMP, besides great authors, are also one of my design references. I love how they manage to give every character and every series an emblematic specific style. Sakura’s is a very cute one, and anyone who knows how it is can see that this brooch just fits it perfectly.

(And looks suspiciously similar to ‘The Nameless’, too ¬¬)

Sakura’s friend Rika buys a beautiful brooch that happens to be a Clow card in disguise. Once Sakura catches it, Rika’s brooch is lost forever, so she gives her her favourite brooch in exchange.

Materials were Fimo Metal-Effect Pearl, Fimo Metal-Effect Golden and Fimo Cherry Red, plus the metallic brooch itself.

The wings were quite difficult to craft with such level of detail (and at first I wanted it to be even closer, but I’m only human, I’m afraid), but I’m most pleased with the result. As much as I love Fimo Metal-Effect Pearl (really, it is AMAZING, TRY IT!), though, it is a mess to work with - it gets dirty so easily, it’s frustrating!

Also, I usually clean the working surface between colours, but I was in such a hurry that I forgot once… and since I worked the red Fimo right after the golden one, shiny golden points appeared on the red heart after baking! They are difficult to see if you are not staring at it, and as all the Metall-Effect effects, it needs direct light to be visible, but still, what a happy accident ^_^

I’ll try to craft the other brooch, too, but I can’t promise anything - this one was so challenging already…
